Ralph Gene Dudley

Ralph Gene Dudley, 87, of St. Albans, West Virginia, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023. He was born August 29, 1936, in Fayette County, WV, to Edward and Ethel Dudley.

Ralph grew up in Amandaville, WV. He loved playing baseball with the Amandaville Junior Grays. Upon graduation from Garnet High School in Charleston, Ralph entered the military.  He was a stellar athlete, playing both football and baseball in high school and playing on several military teams. Ralph was proud to be a member of the All Schools Black Sports Hall of Fame. He was a building inspector for Prince George County, Maryland, for 26 years.  In 1994, Ralph was united in marriage with Twanda Annice Newkirk. After retirement Ralph returned to his roots in Saint Albans WV.

Ralph loved the Lord and his fellow sisters and brothers in Christ at Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church.  He proudly served the church in many capacities: Mass Choir, Male Chorus, cook, Sunday School, Brotherhood, Raise and Praise, among others.  He will be dearly missed.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Henry, Melvin, Nathaniel, Ursula, and Teresa.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 29 years, Twanda Dudley, daughters, Pamela Dudley, of VA, and Shannan Dudley, of Maryland, grandchildren, Jocelyn Gilchrist (Terry), and Tyler Dudley, great grandchildren, Madison Gilchrist, Josiah Gilchrist, Kyla Gilchrist and Skyler Dudley, stepdaughter, Leslie Newkirk, stepsons, Thomas Newkirk and Mark Newkirk, and several nieces and nephews.
